Dear Friend of the Foundation:

The United States of America is facing the most serious trial for her freedom and liberty in her 234 year history and the next few months will determine how it will be played out. The fact of the matter is that overwhelming forces have arisen that despise the Bible, its God, its instruction and its institution.

I fear that most Americans, even believing Americans, have forgotten how and why America’s founding era was from 1760 to 1805. It is true that the vision and purpose of the original Pilgrim and Puritan settlers (1620 and 1630, respectively) had been lost in the maze of prosperity and corruption by 1730. The spiritual condition of most Americans had become as deplorable as it is today.  But what most have forgotten today is that from 1740 to 1760 there was a sovereign, powerful awakening that swept over the colonies, restoring the authority of the Bible and its teaching, particularly, the total depravity of man, to, at least, 66% of the colonists.

The preaching of George Whitefield, Jonathon Edwards, Samuel Davies, etc., had stirred and revived the deadened hearts and consciences of

2 million of the 3 million citizens of the colonies, granting them a divine order that united them into a holy, seeking majority. History of this period tells us that George Whitefield preached his famous “Father Abraham” sermon 18,000 times from Boston to Atlanta during this period.

This revival revealed to the colonists the purpose of man and government, their authority and limitations, and showed them the Biblical foundation for republicanism—the divine intent for man’s governmental form. Once the Declaration of Independence had been published, there was vast majority that decided that King George had overstepped his God-given rights and had become a tyrant and it was their responsibility to correct this grievance.

The missing ingredient today is awakening! Yes, we do have a historical reason for the claim of liberty and freedom. But freedom and liberty was not birthed in history, it was birthed in Biblical religion. It is for this reason that the Founders, the first fifty years of the Republic, supported religion because they believed that only through religion could the qualities of freedom and liberty be secured.

Our solution is not simply to rally to a conservative agenda, it includes that; but a conservative agenda without godliness is just another form of humanism. Our need of God and His presence is obligatory; without Him America is doomed to lose its Founding purpose and vision. This kind comes out by nothing but prayer and fasting. (Mark 9:14-29)
